Kind Alone Boy
Once there was a statue of a little boy in a far off city. The stone boy was lonesome. He used to look at the city and big buildings. He also looked at the homes of little children. The children would often peep out of the windows or play at their doorsteps. The stone boy also longed to run and play like other children but had to be content with just looking at them.
How he wished to walk on the green grass on the ground and join the boys in sailing paper boats in the pond! Now it was winter. “Dear me, I believe it’s snowing. I don’t mind a cold nose and chilly toes but I won’t be able to see the children’s houses if it gets very thick.” Just then he heard a “chirp, chirp” in the air, and something flew right under his big hat to rest on his shoulders.
It was a little sparrow seeking refuge from the snow storm. “Chirp, chirp,” another one came, and then another. “Thank you, little boy, for a little corner under your hat to save us from the snow,” said the sparrows. “Oh, you’re very welcome!” said the stone boy happily, They nestled closer and closer. The stone boy no longer felt lonely. “Isn’t it pleasant to be of some use in the world?” said the stone boy for stone boys are so much more helpful than real children “Sparrows wouldn’t do this to a real, walking and running child. I am special!”
